Wildcatter Ranch is such an amazing and unique place to experience the true, raw beauty of nature and western culture. From their beautiful views, clay shooting, trail rides, horse grooming, meeting their famous donkey, to their steakhouse, hotel, pool and private house- all of it felt extremely authentic and personalized. My husband, kids and I spent one of the most memorable weekends there, and we highly recommend anyone looking for a western getaway, to choose Wildcatter Ranch as their next place to do so.
Rooms
We stayed at 'The Homestead' which is one of the private homes on the ranch. It was western outfitted, aged with beauty and felt like home. It was clean, the kitchen and bathroom had all the needed essentials and it was fenced in. We brought our own groceries and were able to cook meals in their full kitchen. It's also located right next to where they have horses and miniature ponies, so you could walk right up to them, pet them and feed them. Another huge plus for us was the stargazing.. The house is far enough into the ranch that you're away from everyone and it's not polluted with light. A true opportunity to soak in yet another thing the ranch has to offer.
Safety
I felt at ease at the ranch. My kids could go outside without a worry in my mind. They have gates on their property to keep out unwanted guests, the terrain alone keeps people from speeding all around, the staff are all responsible and trustworthy and with any activity, we felt as if they put safety first.
Walkability
The hotel, cabins, spa, pool and steakhouse are all within walking distance, but if you have any activities planned- you absolutely MUST have a car. The elevation, terrain and distance alone calls for it.
Food & drinks
Their steak is some of the BEST steak I have ever had. Made over a real fire- it beats 99.9% of any steak! Absolutely worth getting. Their drinks as well are so good and refreshing, my personal favorites were the 'Bluebonnet' and the 'Prickly Pear'.
