“My husband and I visited from Staten Island and spent three days exploring the Stockyards before heading to Wildcatter Ranch for the true Texas experience — and it did not disappoint! We stayed in one of the cabins, which was comfortable and had a lovely outdoor seating area to take in the stunning landscape.
The property is beautifully maintained, and we took part in several activities (all worth it). Our morning horseback ride (90 minutes) was incredible, and as first-time riders, the Wranglers were patient, encouraging, and excellent coaches. The evening sunset ride was equally memorable, even on an overcast day, thanks to Clint and Abbey. They were personable, funny, and made our experience so enjoyable — I’m sure they got a kick out of two city folks learning the ropes! We also tried horse grooming and skeet shooting — both a lot of fun.
The onsite restaurant is simple but fantastic. The steaks were delicious, and the breakfast buffet was just as good — don’t miss the biscuits at both breakfast and dinner.
The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was kind, accommodating, and genuinely welcoming. We even explored the small town of Graham, which added another fun layer to our trip.

CONSIDERATIONS
Wildcatter Ranch and Resort is a very large property, you will need a car to enjoy it. The horse barn where most activities take place is in the valley, while the Steakhouse and Lodging are up on the mountain top whereas the distance is not walkable.
Breakfast and Dinner are served daily, but Wildcatter Steakhouse is not open for lunch outside of pre-ordered boxed lunches received two weeks in advance.
You will want to enjoy the small town of Graham, TX (15 minutes away) for lunch and shopping for antiques and local goods. Mineral Wells and Possum Kingdom Lake are also nearby and great places to shop, eat and find some fun activities.
Summer heat restricts our summer activities to the morning only at the discretion of the Wranglers.
~August - November is CRICKET SEASON and you will encounter crickets (bugs) in the buildings, rooms, and on the property.
