Don't forget to visit the main hotel lobby, where we encourage you to slow down and stay a while! Our guests have full access to Billiards/Pool Tables, Poker Tables, and lots of board games and puzzles. It’s not uncommon to walk in and see families gathered around a deck of cards or a game of pool; this is where "guests become friends" and memories are made.

Travis is our sweetest girl around! She loves everyone at the horse barn. If you’re waiting on your horseback ride or just want to get some snuggles after throwing axes or archery, she’ll be there!
Travis is free-ranging, meaning she goes where she wishes. There’s a chance you’ll see her around the ranch following the horses out to the start of the trail ride or at the arena to see her mini-pony friends, Edna and Willie Nelson. She doesn’t move fast, so if you see her, feel free to stop and go love her!

Cast a line in our bass tank! This “catch and release” spot is perfect for guests who want to enjoy the serenity of the ranch with a fishing pole in hand. You can bring your own poles and bait, or we have some to use that you can check out at the front desk. To hike in, it’s about a 0.5 mile walk, or you’ll need an SUV/truck to make it down the off-road trail to the bass tank. (See the map or ask the front desk for directions!)
You’re also welcome to access the Brazos River for fishing, just note that you’ll need a fishing license to fish there. (This also applies to any public waterways in TX.) Ask our wranglers for directions to the secret spot!
Open daily 9am-11pm | Pool is NOT heated
Soak in the View. Perched on the edge of the plateau, our pool and hot tub offer some of the most stunning panoramic views in North Texas. Whether you are taking a refreshing dip in the summer heat or soaking in the hot tub under a blanket of Texas stars, it is the perfect place to unwind and let the Brazos River breeze reset your soul.
Please note that the hot tub is heated on request; let the front desk know in the morning if you would like to use it in the evening.

If you take a stroll down by the longhorn pasture in the quiet warmth of a Texas evening, you’re likely to meet a very special lady waiting at the entry fence. Meet Jewel, our beautiful, papered American Quarter Horse, who is happily living out her golden years at Wildcatter Ranch. She loves when our guests see her, pet her, and enjoy her gentle company.
A direct descendant of the legendary Colonel Freckles (the 1976 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Champion and AQHA Hall of Fame stallion), Jewel comes from true equine royalty, known for athleticism, intelligence, and a sweet disposition. These days, she has traded the arena for peaceful retirement alongside our iconic Texas Longhorns and loves greeting guests at the fence with gentle nuzzles and warm Texas welcomes.
9am | Free
Take part in a true Texas Tradition. Every morning, we invite our guests to join us for one of our favorite daily rituals: feeding our iconic Texas Longhorns. It’s a chance to get up close and personal with these legendary animals, take some incredible photos, and start your day with a true connection to the land.
Longhorns are animals! If they are too full of green summer grass, they may snooze through their 9am feeding. We’re sorry if the herd doesn’t show!
