Our Authentic Texas Guest Ranch Activities

Beautiful landscape of Wildcatter Ranch with rolling hills and clear blue sky.

Make your stay at Wildcatter one to remember! Our ranch activities make it easy to slow down, try something new, and create memories you'll be talking about long after you head home.

Saddle Up & Plan Your Day

Read through everything you need to know before you saddle up, including booking details, family guidelines, gratuity.

While booking your room, you can add on activities during the online booking process. Once you’ve booked rooms (required first), you can then send a list of activities to book to the Front Desk at Reservations@WildcatterRanch.com.

The nature of our activities and property lends itself to vacations for groups with kids over 10 so they can enjoy the trail rides. Between 3-10 years old, kids can enjoy riding horses led by a wrangler on a rope, feeding the longhorns, jeep ride, horse grooming, petting Travis the donkey and other barn animals, the pool and hot tub, hiking our many trails, and enjoying the boulders and nature. Wildcatter is about slowing down and just being outside.

The cowboys and cowgirls helping you experience Wildcatter with our activities are full-time locals. We do not employ seasonal, non-locals. These are real Texans who live and work nearby and can’t wait to show you what we’re all about! Due to the unpredictable nature of busy and slow days at the resort, an automatic 20% gratuity is added to each activity. Gratuity goes straight to the Wranglers.

There is a 6.75% sales tax and 20% gratuity added to all activities. Activities must be canceled by 7 pm the day before, or guests will be charged the full amount.

Here's a look at a typical day on the ranch. Times can shift with weather, season, or availability, so treat this as a planning guide, not a guarantee.

Children petting a donkey at Wildcatter Ranch in Texas.

Travis is our sweetest girl around! She loves everyone at the horse barn. If you’re waiting on your horseback ride or just want to get some snuggles after throwing axes or archery, she’ll be there!

Travis is free-ranging, meaning she goes where she wishes. There’s a chance you’ll see her around the ranch following the horses out to the start of the trail ride or at the arena to see her mini-pony friends, Edna and Willie Nelson. She doesn’t move fast, so if you see her, feel free to stop and go love her!

If you take a stroll down by the longhorn pasture in the quiet warmth of a Texas evening, you’re likely to meet a very special lady waiting at the entry fence. Meet Jewel, our beautiful, papered American Quarter Horse, who is happily living out her golden years at Wildcatter Ranch. She loves when our guests see her, pet her, and enjoy her gentle company.

A direct descendant of the legendary Colonel Freckles (the 1976 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Champion and AQHA Hall of Fame stallion), Jewel comes from true equine royalty, known for athleticism, intelligence, and a sweet disposition. These days, she has traded the arena for peaceful retirement alongside our iconic Texas Longhorns and loves greeting guests at the fence with gentle nuzzles and warm Texas welcomes.
