Leather branding transforms a simple piece of leather into a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Using a heated branding iron, the design is permanently impressed into the leather, creating the distinctive mark that's long been associated with ranching traditions across Texas. A wrangler guides every branding pass. Irons are hot, hands are watched.
Here at Wildcatter Ranch, you'll learn the process firsthand with a quick demonstration before trying it yourself in the ranch barn using authentic hot branding irons. You’ll receive four leather coasters to brand and take home as keepsakes.
Want to make your mark on something else? You're welcome to bring your own leather items like boots or hats, or purchase additional leather pieces at the ranch to customize.
Long before branding became a souvenir, it was an essential part of life in Texas cattle country. Ranchers relied on unique brands to identify their livestock across thousands of acres of open range, helping prevent theft and settle ownership disputes. That history runs especially deep here in Graham. In 1877, forty cattlemen gathered beneath an oak tree to form what would become the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, creating one of the nation's oldest livestock organizations dedicated to protecting ranchers and their herds. You’ll see that history reflected here at Wildcatter, especially in our Cattle Raisers Cabin Suite.
